Initiating the Lift

Some players start with the racket and ball above waist level and then bring both arms back down, like Andreas Beck. It is absolutely imperative that at the bottom of the drop you come to a complete pause, if only for a moment.

Many people have one jerky motion where they drop the tossing arm and come up in one quick motion. Watch how Beck comes to a complete stop so that he can "lift the lever" from the bottom to the top.
